Bob Haines
A Brisbane resident for over fifty years Bob has lived in Ekibin, Holland Park West, Kingston and Pallara. Bob is secretary of the Doolandella, Pallara and District Residents Association and a member of the Oxley Creek Taskforce. The Oxley Creek Taskforce is aimed at achieving an improved water quality and rehabilitation of Oxley Creek.
Bob is interested in all aspects of planning including the conflicts that sometimes occur in the planning process. Some residents want Pallara to remain rural with large blocks, others want the area developed.
Bob feels he’s already an ambassador and becoming a CityShape ambassador ensures he can share the information and ideas.

Ideas for Brisbane’s future
Bob loves the “small town” feeling of Brisbane and thinks we should strive to keep that feeling. Bob’s preference is the multi-centred city shape and believes we should spread Commercial/Retail areas around Brisbane. Bob’s vision for 2026 includes:
  • provide good facilities at commercial centres to reduce trips to the city centre

  • fast and low cost public transport from the suburbs to the city

  • improve telecommuting facilities to enable more people to work from home

Bob wants to keep the rural atmosphere in Pallara but as a realist can see the area as an ideal site for a new ‘Forest Lake’ with a wide range of housing choices.
